How many stills an interval made
These counts are finished tiles from the tool, not a formula. The clip is count-10fps.mp4 from this site's test files. Headless Chromium reported a 6 second duration and a picture of 640 × 360. Each run used the interval chips, then Download ZIP. Recorded 20 Oct 2026. The raw log is docs/pages-2026-10-20/runs.json in the project, not a public URL.
| Clip length | Interval | Stills | Still size | First still bytes | ZIP bytes |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 6 seconds | 0.5 s | 12 PNG | 640 × 360 | 37124 | 456272 |
| 6 seconds | 1 s | 6 PNG | 640 × 360 | 37124 | 225673 |
| 6 seconds | 2 s | 3 PNG | 640 × 360 | 37124 | 111609 |
The same clip at 1 second, switched to JPG at the slider's 85%, made 6 stills, still 640 × 360. The first JPG was 11840 bytes. The ZIP was 70207 bytes.
MOV, WEBM and MKV copies of that clip also opened, each at 6 seconds and 640 × 360. The AVI copy did not open in that Chromium run.
A run stops after 300 stills, and a file over 2 GB is turned away before playback. None of these four runs got near 300.
PNG or JPG for this batch
PNG is pressed when the page opens. The canvas is saved as PNG with no quality argument. JPG is the other button. Its slider starts at 85 and moves from 60 to 95 in steps of 5. The 1 second pair above is the size difference on this clip: PNG ZIP 225673 bytes, JPG ZIP 70207 bytes, same 640 × 360 picture.
If you wanted the page that opens already about PNG, that is MP4 to PNG. This page is the batch, and PNG is simply the format it starts on.
The still keeps the decoded size
Each saved picture is the video's decoded width and height. The four runs above all wrote 640 × 360, which is what the player reported for that clip. The small preview in the grid is a separate thumbnail. It is not the file you download.
The clip is not posted out
The page plays the file from a local object URL in this tab. Stills are drawn here, and the ZIP is assembled here, then the browser downloads it. During the four runs above, the test log recorded no POST and no PUT.
The video itself stays in this tab. Once measurement is allowed, only anonymous bands are sent, and they omit the video, the file name, and the exact size. Read the privacy page.
Which page is the batch
This page is the batch: a still at each interval, then one ZIP. MP4 to PNG is the page about one format. How to take a picture from a video opens ready to save the single frame you paused on. Stepping one frame at a time is the point of the frame by frame video player.
Questions about a video-to-image batch
How do I convert video to images without uploading?
Choose the video on this page. Interval is already on, so the extract button writes the set in this tab. The clip is not posted out.
What is an image sequence here?
The stills from one interval run, in order. Download ZIP packs the ones left ticked.
How do I choose the interval?
It opens at 1 second. The other chips are 0.5, 2, 5, 10 and 30 seconds, or type another number of seconds. The count above the extract button updates before the run.
Do the stills keep the video size?
Yes. The picture you download is the player's own width and height. On the 6-second test clip that was 640 by 360 in every run recorded on this page.
PNG or JPG for a video to image batch?
PNG starts pressed and does not use the quality slider. JPG uses that slider, which opens at 85% and runs from 60% to 95% in steps of 5. On the 6-second clip at 1 second, the PNG ZIP was 225673 bytes and the JPG ZIP at 85% was 70207 bytes.
How many images can one run make?
The batch stops once 300 stills are written. A file over 2 GB is refused before it plays. The three interval runs on the 6-second clip made 12, 6 and 3 stills.
Do I need an account for video to photo?
No. This page never asks for an account, and it does not stamp the still.
