MP4, MOV, WEBM, MKV · up to 2 GB · JPG is drawn on this device

JPG is already on, and the slider sits at 85. Save one picture, or leave the spacing at one still a second. This page opens one video, and the file cap is 2 GB. One run stops at 300 stills.

This page is the JPG and the file size. Lossless PNG stills are the job of MP4 to PNG. A batch taken on an interval, format not the point, starts at video to image.

Same frame, four file sizes

These bytes were downloaded from this page in headless Chromium, not estimated. The clip is count-10fps.mp4. The playhead was set to 1 second, which this file's frame rate holds as frame 11. Each download was 640 × 360. Recorded 2026-10-21 08:49 EDT. The raw log is docs/pages-2026-10-21/runs.json in the project, not a public URL.

A second run left the slider at 85, kept the 1 second spacing, and pressed Download ZIP. It packed 6 JPG files, 70207 bytes. Those are the stills the run produced, not every frame in the clip.

JPG or PNG for this still

Pick JPG when the smaller file is the point and a lossy picture is fine. On this frame, quality 85 was 11659 bytes against a PNG of 38210 bytes, same 640 × 360 picture. Quality 60 was smaller still (8177 bytes). Quality 95 was 17017 bytes, closer to the PNG and still under it.

Pick PNG when you do not want a JPEG quality number at all. The encoder receives a quality argument only for JPEG. That control lives on MP4 to PNG, which opens with PNG already selected.

The saved JPG keeps the decoded pixels

The still is drawn onto a canvas set to the player's own width and height, then saved. Nothing in that step scales the download down. The four files above were all 640 × 360, which is the size the player reported for this clip. The tile in the grid is a separate preview. It is not the file the download button saves.

What leaves this tab

The video itself remains in this tab. Measurement, once you allow it, sends anonymous bands only, and it leaves out the video, the filename, and the exact size. Read how that works on the privacy page.

During the five runs above, the test log recorded no POST and no PUT. The JPG and the ZIP were assembled in the tab and handed to the browser's download.

This page is the JPG one

Come here to convert mp4 to jpg, or when you say video to jpg and mean a JPEG picture you can size with the slider. MP4 to PNG is the lossless still. Video to image is the interval batch, and it does not open on JPG. One paused picture is how to take a picture from a video. Stepping a single frame is the frame by frame video player.

Questions people ask about mp4 to jpg

How do I convert mp4 to jpg without uploading?

Open the MP4 on this page. JPG is already selected. The tab draws the still and downloads it. Nothing in that save posts the video to a server.

What does video to jpg mean here?

A video in, JPG pictures out. One frame, or the frames you leave ticked, saved from the picture this browser decoded.

Can I set the JPEG quality?

Yes. The slider is on screen when the page opens. It starts at 85 and moves from 60 to 95 in steps of 5. That number is the JPEG quality passed to the browser.

How large was the same frame as a PNG and as a JPG?

On count-10fps.mp4, frame 11, the PNG was 38210 bytes and the JPG files were 8177 bytes at 60, 11659 bytes at 85, and 17017 bytes at 95. Each one was 640 by 360.

Does video to jpg keep the video's width and height?

The file you download uses the video's decoded width and height. On the measured frame that was 640 by 360. The small picture in the grid is only a preview.

Can I save the JPGs in one ZIP?

Yes. Tick the stills you want and press Download ZIP. A default run at quality 85 on the test clip packed 6 JPGs into a ZIP of 70207 bytes. The ZIP contains the ticked stills, not every frame of the file.

Do I need an account?

No. The page does not ask you to sign up, and it does not stamp the JPG.
